What is homeschooling?
Homeschooling is basic education provided by the family: parents design and guide their children's learning themselves instead of sending them to school. It is fully legal in Thailand under the National Education Act B.E. 2542 (1999) and the Ministerial Regulation on the right of families to provide basic education, B.E. 2547 (2004).
How do I start homeschooling in Thailand?
The family submits an application for family-provided education to the local Educational Service Area Office (สพท.), together with an education plan for the child. Once approved, you carry out learning according to the plan, keep records and a portfolio of work, and take part in the assessment agreed with the service area office. Details can vary between areas, so check directly with your local office.
